Stroller Strides Moms in Boca Raton

If you are considering being active with your baby a great way to get back into shape and meet other moms at the same time is through your local Stroller Strides fitness group! Stroller Strides is a nationwide fitness program with over 1000 locations across the country and in Canada, All classes are taught by certified instructions (who are also mothers.) Classes are designed with pre and post natal fitness in mind and are great for mothers with little ones of any stroller age. Most classes meet in the early part of the morning, in safe local parks away from high traffic areas.

Here in Boca Raton, the local Stroller Strides fitness group is owned and operated by Ivie Claudio. A mother of two children (Luke, 5 and Tori, 2), Ivie is dedicated to working with moms at their own pace and listening to mothers about their specific fitness needs. Stroller Strides is like having personal training in a group setting and for a fraction of the price, since Ivie is able to modify or intensify the exercises to suit every mother and expecting mother’s needs. Ivie is also wonderful at involving the children in the workouts and loves to sing songs to entertain the little ones as the moms do their exercise routines! Ivie holds her Stroller Strides workouts at a local park, and by the beach (we are in Boca Raton, ladies!)

A common question for Ivie is “Do I need a jogging stroller to take a Stroller Strides class?” The answer is no. In fact, Stroller Strides will welcome you regardless of the stroller you have! Although BOB is the official stroller of the Stroller Strides program it is not necessary to have a jogging stroller. However, if you are looking to be involved in the program, the following are a list of criteria that we suggest you look for the maximum in performance and comfort if you plan to use your stroller for Stroller Strides classes.

  • Make sure the stroller handle is at a comfortable height to push. You do not want to put stress on your lower back by having to lean over to push the stroller.
  • Sufficient sun coverage is a must since Stroller Strides classes are held outside. Make sure the sun canopy is wide, offers full coverage or has an extended feature.
  • Proper ventilation and air flow are important to look for in warmer climates. Some strollers with great “air condition vents” are the Bumbleride Indie or Indie Twin, the UPPAbaby Vista and the BOB Revolution. If you are considering Bugaboo strollers, consider purchasing a Bugaboo Breezy Sun Canopy as an addition to the Bugaboo Cameleon or Bugaboo Frog.
  • A stroller with proper suspension is going to offer a smoother ride for you and your baby.
  • Air filled tires will act as a cushion between your baby and the terrain you are strolling over! However, some moms are unhappy with having to fill them with air. If you have a stroller with air filled tires make sure that tires are properly inflated before classes and there are no leaks. The Stroller Doctor sees popped tubes and tires very often. This common repair with air filled tires is easily fixed by our service center. If you do not want to maintain your tires, some strollers with suitable tires for Stroller Strides include the Bugaboo Cameleon, Baby Jogger City Select and the UPPAbaby Vista. Remember, that although they need maintenance, an air filled tire offers a lot of cushion and suspension for you and your baby.
  • A full nap recline can be an important feature. This way, if your baby happens to fall asleep during your workout she can nap comfortably.
  • A snack tray feature, snack tray option or toddler seat pockets are great for workouts since your child will be in the stroller during your workout. He or she will love having snacks and drinks at hand. Some strollers with optional snack trays include the BOB Revolution (with car seat adapter), Phil and Teds Universal Snack Tray or the Bumbleride Snack Pack.de If your stroller has a front bar, you can check out the Carry You Piccolo or Sienna Snack Tray.
  • Although not necessary, a stroller with reversible seat option such as the Bugaboo Frog or Bugaboo Cameleon, the UPPAbaby Vista or Baby Jogger City Select will allow you to engage your baby during your workouts. Also, a reversible seat will help to turn your baby away from sun or wind.
  • Sufficient storage for the towels, mats, hats, sun block, jackets, toys snacks or other essentials you will need during workouts.

Amanda, mom of Ava, 5 months uses the Bugaboo Cameleon during her Stroller Strides workouts. She says the following about working out with her ride!

I love my Bugaboo Cameleon. In the Stroller Strides class I find it to be great because I can have her face me while I am walking. I love to be able to watch her and talk to her while doing the workouts. I also like the shade because Ava hates the sun in her eyes and the canopy provides an excellent shade, but she can still look around. I also love that I do not have to worry about putting air in the tires. A lot of the other moms constantly have to make sure that they are filled or it can make for a very bad class. I love my stroller because it is versatile enough to handle rough terrain and still look pretty!! I feel like I have 2 strollers in one.

Jessica, who uses the BOB Revolution with her 1 ½ year old son Max during workouts, says

I love our Bob Revolution stroller for working out during Stroller Strides. The sunshade is large enough to protect my son from all the elements south Florida is known for. Also, the suspension allows me to run at a swiftly without having to use my energy to push it!

Heard of the Stroller Strides BOB? Although BOB does offer a special Stroller Strides Stroller, the BOB Revolution (or Duallie for two) with a Stroller Strides Fitness Kit will do the job!
